There are abundant recreational opportunities for all ages in Mt. Pleasant. The Mt. Pleasant Rec Center is a 30,000 square foot multi-purpose facility built in 1995 with $1.6 million in private funding. The center features a full-size gymnasium, a meeting room available for rental for meetings and gatherings and programs galore for all ages. The center is governed by an elected board of directors and includes two racquetball courts with wallyball capability, volleyball courts, a heated lap pool and whirlpool, weight machines and numerous training and exercise equipment. Also available are a running/walking track, a new elliptical trainer and much more. The center also offers an After School Program and a Summer Adventure Camp for children. Mount Pleasant Rec Center is open daily except for a few major holidays.

The Mt. Pleasant Park and Recreation Department offers a full slate of youth, preschool and adult activities, sporting camps and programs, from tumbling to football to cooking, arts and crafts, fitness, golf, and more.

The city is home to seven lovely city parks, each jam-packed with amenities of all kinds. East Lake Park features three softball fields, shelters houses, gazebos, playgrounds, sand volleyball, a pond, lighted tennis courts, horseshoe courts, a soccer complex and driving range on 120 acres. The 40-acre McMillan Park offers game fields, large rental buildings, a dirt track, and shelter buildings. The park is home to The Old Threshers Reunion, the Henry County Fair, and other special events.
The Aquatic Center is a beautiful six-lane, 25-yard heated pool with two water slides, diving board and concessions.
Scheaffer Park on South Walnut is popular with families as it offers open play space and benches. Central Park in the historic downtown is home to the Edd King Memorial Fountain and open play areas while Green Square Park is a small residential park with playground equipment and half-court basketball. Cranes Pond is a five-acre park with a sledding hill, shelter house, swings and two-acre fishing pond.

Saunders Park is a 60-acre park in the heart of Mt. Pleasant offering a unique geode bridge, a log cabin, playground equipment, two shelter houses, a fitness trail and the fabulous Mt. Pleasant Family Aquatic Center. The Aquatic Center is a beautiful six-lane, 25-yard heated pool with two water slides, diving board and concessions. Swim classes and aquatic programs are offered as well.

The City of Mt. Pleasant recently acquired land for an additional park, Prairie View Park. This park is 13 acres of land between Linden Heights and East Lake Park, featuring native prairie grasses and wild flowers. A section of the proposed Mt. Pleasant Recreation Trail will be constructed through the park, giving trail users a beautiful nature-filled setting.

The Mississippi River, Lake Rathbun and several state parks are located in the vicinity of Mt. Pleasant making the community a very popular place with outdoor enthusiasts. .
