Edwardsville - Glen Carbon, IL
Entertainment Once upon a time, it may have been believed that the greatest entertainment benefit of living in Edwardsville and Glen Carbon was their relative proximity — about 20 miles — from St. Louis and all that the big city has to offer. While the residents of these communities don’t take St. Louis for granted, they also need to have as much local access to entertainment as possible. Luckily, there are currently countless venues for different types of entertainment right in Edwardsville and Glen Carbon.
The area’s most popular movie house is the Showplace 12 Cinema Complex. Located on Center Grove Road, this
theater offers stadium seating and luxurious high-back seating. SIUE also adds an outstanding amount of entertainment to the area. As the university plays host to a sweeping array of cultural arts, performances and premier college sporting events, SIUE has greatly enhanced the area’s entertainment potential.
From the barrage of festivals and events, such as Festival 66 and the Harvest Winefest, that color the calendar year in Madison County to cultural centers such as the Children’s Museum at Edwardsville and the Land of Goshen Market, some of the best entertainment venues in the area challenge patrons to spark their minds and engage their creative spirits in the cause of entertainment.
In the event that you are seeking entertainment not available in Edwardsville, Glen Carbon or their surrounding Metro East neighbors, then St. Louis is sure to satisfy your every desire. Once voted by Sporting News as “The Best Sports Town in America” and commonly acknowledged as having the most respectful and well-informed baseball fans in the nation, St. Louis keeps its sports fans busy throughout the year. With Cardinals baseball, Rams football and Blues hockey, you’ll quickly become a fan, too. However, St. Louis is also home to world-class educational and cultural entertainment, including the St. Louis Symphony, the St. Louis Zoo, the Missouri Botanical Garden, the St. Louis Science Center (featuring IMAX), the St. Louis Art Museum, the Muny Opera and the Fox Theatre. St. Louis is also home to Six Flags Midwest, a family-oriented amusement park, and several riverboat casinos, a popular adult activity. And, of course, no overview of St. Louis’ entertainment would be complete without mentioning the city’s most recognizable landmark, the Gateway Arch.
