In Galena, we are
proud of the fact that 70 percent of our visitors return to see us
again. Maybe they come back because we have so many recreational options.
Maybe they come back because they are enthralled with the local landscape
and its history. Maybe they can't get enough of our shops, restaurants
and inns. Or maybe they glimpse what we Galenians are lucky enough
to see every day: the excellent quality of life in our uniquely sophisticated
town.
One local businessman,
Jim Hansen of Contemporary Services, could not ignore what he saw
in Galena as a visitor. He explains his company's decision to move
operations from the Chicago suburbs to Galena. "We made the decision
to relocate to the Galena area from suburban Chicago for the quality
of life in this area. We felt that with the available technology options,
we could operate our administrative office from virtually anywhere
with phones, fax machines and the Internet. The people are more loyal
here than they are in the larger cities. It is an interconnected world
today with a global economy, so it is less important to have that
office in a high-rise building with a prestigious address than it
once was. You can be anywhere."
