With a plethora of commercial opportunities, Todd County area businesses offer a little bit of everything.
You don’t have to look far in Todd County to find what you need. With a variety of choices among many area stores and businesses, residents of the county feel proud to support local merchants. Mallory’s Dress Shop is one of the local businesses currently thriving in Todd County. Located in Elkton, the family-owned store has been in business for over 30 years. The current owners have run the ladies’ apparel shop for more than a decade and have found Elkton to be small enough for them to be able to give the personal service customers appreciate, while still being large enough to provide a good living.

The local gift shop, Something Special, is the place to go when you are looking for that unique gift. This store has been meeting area residents’ gift-giving needs for more than 10 years and has a little bit of everything from which to choose. Whether you are looking for pottery or cards or stationery, look no further than Something Special in Elkton.

You can pamper yourself in Todd County as well. There are several beauty salons in each community, and all are ready to help you feel and look your best. Salon 201, in operation since 1975, is a place to come and enjoy a day of relaxation. At the salon you can get your hair done or enjoy a manicure, pedicure or massage by a massage therapist. Salon 201 also specializes in ethnic hair designs.

In addition to the many retail shops scattered throughout the county, there are great shopping opportunities in nearby communities such as Bowling Green, Ky. and Clarksville, Tenn.

In Bowling Green you’ll find Greenwood Mall. Only 45 miles northeast of Elkton, the mall has everything from a Dillard’s to an onsite self-storage facility. A recently renovated food court with an antique-style carousel helps shoppers ward off hunger and entertain the kids in between hitting the shops. There’s also a Gap, Gap Kids, Foot Locker, Aeropostale, Famous Barr, JCPenney, Sears and American Eagle, as well as too many specialty shops to list. Come and spend a day browsing through all the terrific merchandise.

The Governor’s Square Mall, located in Clarksville, Tenn., is another commercial hub close to Todd County. Shoppers at the mall, located behind Target in Clarksville, enjoy a variety of stores, from nationwide chains like Dillard's, JCPenney, Gap and Hallmark to Old Navy and American Eagle Outfitters. There is also a large food court ready to serve cookies, pretzels, and Greek and American food.

In addition to clothing and gift stores, there are many antique stores in the region to browse through. You’ll want to take a piece of Southern history home with you after looking through the fantastic finds at antique stores both inside and just outside Todd County.

During the summer, the agricultural producers of the county bring forth true treasures. You can buy sun-ripened fruit and vegetables from local farmers’ fruit and vegetable stands that dot the countryside. Nothing tastes better than fresh produce that has been locally grown and harvested!

Todd County has a small but thriving Amish community. Over the years, the Amish have started or acquired several businesses. One great — and delicious — stop is Schlabach’s Bakery. Started in 1972 by Mrs. Ray Schlabach, it has remained in the family ever since. Here you will find a tasty assortment of homemade breads, pies, jams and jellies that will start your mouth watering the minute you walk in the bakery. Just down the road is the Country Pantry, which specializes in bulk packaged pastas, flour, meal, spices and assorted cooking ingredients. You will also find an excellent selection of cheeses and specialty meats at this unique store. The Penchem Tack Store has some of the most beautiful handmade saddles and riding equipment you will find anywhere. Whatever your needs may be, you will always find what you’re looking for in Todd County or the surrounding area.

Keeping your money secure in Todd County is easy at any of several banks in the area. Friendly bank personnel make conducting your personal and business financial transactions easy and enjoyable. In Elkton, you will find the Elkton Bank & Trust Company, Heritage Bank and the United Southern Bank.
