in the state of Michigan, offers a broad range of unique programs
and services for people of all ages and abilities, from preschool
children to senior citizens. It is known for its high-quality
curriculum and emphasis on continuous improvement through professional
development of teachers.
Recognized as an outstanding school district, the Livonia Public
Schools system was selected as a School/Match Award-Winning
System under a program which recognizes schools that match the
needs of parents and children by comparing responses by parents
and corporate personnel. Only 9 percent of the 15,625 school
systems in the country receive this honor. Several district
schools have received state and national recognition. All of
its high schools are accredited, and district students currently
score well above the average on the MEAP (Michigan Educational
Assessment Program) and other assessments. In addition, the
district offers a wide variety of programs to meet the specialized
needs of students, including contemporary necessities such as
School Age Child Care (SACC).
Because of the community’s support, the district’s
facilities are in excellent condition. Recently completed improvements
include new middle school and high school facilities for physical
education instruction and extracurricular activities. The school
system provides students with high-quality learning materials
and resources, including the latest computer technology.
The school district is active in the community, building strong
partnerships with the business community and other civic organizations.
Parental involvement is also high. The school system proudly
boasts the largest and most active PTA in the state. LPS proudly
plays an important role in citizens’ lives by living its
mission statement — “Teaming together to ensure
learning for all.”

curricula, and have approximately the same number of students.
Both strive to make the educational experience successful and
positive.
All students in grades 6 through 8 attend the Clarenceville
Middle School. The Middle School emphasizes mastery of academic
skills, with enrichment programs in areas such as journalism,
Spanish, physical education, band, choir, art, technology education,
life management skills and computers. Every student participates
in a program that teaches the skills of interpersonal decision-making.
A wide variety of extracurricular programs are available, including
a tutoring program, intramurals, and various sports and academic
teams.
Students in grades 9 to 12 attend Clarenceville High School.
A well-balanced academic curriculum supports a graduation requirement
of 22 credits over a four-year period. There are a variety of
athletic and extracurricular opportunities to complement the
academic program, and a dedicated staff to encourage and challenge
students to become the best they can be.
Residents recently voted to provide a bond issue and sinking
fund to upgrade the building facilities, add computer technology,
and improve the teaching and learning environment in all buildings.

more.
