West County residents have an assortment of quality eating establishments and shopping facilities "right around the corner." The West St. Louis County area takes pride in its many excellent restaurants that appeal to a broad range of tastes. The area offers everything from fine dining at renowned restaurants to casual and family dining at affordable, familiar restaurants.

A vast array of retail and service outlets are conveniently located throughout the area. More than half of these shopping centers are situated along Manchester Road. This five-lane roadway is considered the "main street" of the West County area. It has everything from supermarkets and car dealerships to discount stores and exclusive boutiques. Other convenient shopping centers are found at strategic intersections throughout West County. Developers in Ballwin have recently completed an Olde Town Plaza shopping center, anchored by Lowe's Home Improvement Warehouse, O'Charley's, McAlister's, Applebee's and other stores. In Wildwood, plans are under way for developing a Town Center that will combine a vibrant, gentrified shopping district with ambitious community development initiatives.

Westfield Shoppingtown, on Manchester Road at I-270, has recently reopened after a major renovation. This beautifully constructed mall includes several large anchor stores, including Nordstrom's and Galyan's (the first in the St. Louis market). Another Westfield shopping center is Chesterfield Mall, located at Highway 40 and Clarkson Road. It has three major department stores and more than 150 specialty stores. In addition, many quality restaurants may be found both in the mall itself and in the area immediately adjacent to the mall.
