Served by both the Defiance Regional Medical Center and the Defiance Clinic, our citizens are assured of excellent services. Defiance Regional Medical Center, located in a striking new facility at the intersection of State Routes 15/18 and US Route 24 on the northwest side of Defiance, houses the latest technology, and is staffed by over 400 caring professionals.

Designed with patients and families in mind, the Defiance Regional Medical Center offers
exactly what patients have asked for: privacy, convenience and comfort. All 61 inpatient rooms are private, with sleep-sofas for family members who wish to stay the night. Large, comfortable family lounges, complete with kids’ play areas, are located throughout the facility, and outpatient departments are located conveniently off one main corridor.

The Emergency Center at Defiance Regional Medical Center is staffed exclusively with emergency-trained physicians. Over 14,000 patients a year use the Emergency Center, which now boasts eight private treatment rooms, a trauma room and four observation beds.

The beautiful new Women’s Center offers large, private LDRP (Labor, Delivery, Recovery and Postpartum) rooms, where a mom in labor can be spared the necessity of moving from room to room. The warm colors, wood floors and spacious baths, along with sleep sofas for family members, add a home-like touch. Mammography, ultrasound and special women’s clinics are provided in the Women’s Center as well.

The Defiance Regional Medical Center offers a comprehensive array of medical care, including Total Rehab (Physical and Occupational Therapy, Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab); the Coping Center mental-health unit; a two-bed Sleep Disorders Center; state-of-the-art radiology services; and a Surgery Center that is equipped with the latest in surgical instruments. From joint replacements to stress tests; MRIs to therapy pool treatment; cancer care to primary- and specialty-physician care, the Defiance Regional Medical Center is true to its mission: to be the leader in providing quality healthcare services which meet the needs and exceed the expectations of its patients.

Defiance Clinic, a multi-specialty medical group located on Defiance’s east side, provides a wide array of services that meet most patients’ medical needs, in a beautiful facility that has recently been expanded and remodeled.

The staff is comprised of some 60 healthcare providers. This includes about 35 Clinic physicians in primary-care and subspecialties; visiting subspecialists; and 10 non-physician providers, including nurse anesthetists, physician assistants and nurse practitioners. There are 24 medical and surgical specialties and numerous allied departments, such as laboratory, physical therapy and sports medicine, x-ray and imaging services, audiology and hearing aids, and pharmacy.

The Fauster Surgery Center for ambulatory procedures opened at the Clinic in the spring of 2001. This facility is certified by Medicare and accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC). A wide variety of surgical procedures and endoscopic tests are performed here.

This comprehensive array of services has been achieved through steady expansion of the Clinic’s own staff and facilities; the development of working relationships with St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center and the Medical College of Ohio, both located in Toledo; and partnerships with a number of private medical practices in Northwest Ohio and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The Defiance County Health Department provides services that include Public Health Nursing, Environmental Health and the W.I.C. Nutrition Program. The department also offers immunization; prenatal and genetics clinics; home visits to first-time and teenage parents; a Kids Club nutrition project; monthly hearing clinics for children; health screening for senior residents aged 60 and older; and health and safety programs to school children and adult community groups. The department records births and deaths, issues burial permits, and provides certified copies of births or deaths.
