Nearby Nature
• Experience Oregon’s living history firsthand at Dorris Ranch. The ranch displays books, photographs and stories about Springfield’s early inhabitants through self-guided tours year round or group interpretive tours led by experienced guides. Contact Dorris Ranch at 736-4544.
• Whether you are interested in fishing, rafting, floating or just viewing the gorgeous scenery, the McKenzie River offers unmatched beauty. A popular spot is Hendricks Park, located at the east end of Springfield.
• For some exercise, the Mount Pisgah Arboretum offers about a 30- to 45-minute hike to the top. Beautiful views and scenery abound. Mount Pisgah is great for visitors of all ages. Contact Mount Pisgah Arboretum at 741-4110.
City Adventures
• For golfers not quite ready to hit the country club,
try Camp Putt, the largest miniature golf course in
the Northwest. Camp Putt offers two great courses to choose from. Contact Camp Putt at 741-9828.
• Fun for the whole family is available at both ends of Springfield. Willamalane Pool and Splash offer activities for everyone — from little ones to seniors. Contact these pools at 736-4244.
Shopping
• Springfield’s largest shopping center is the Gateway Mall. The mall houses the premier, stadium-seating Cinemark movie theatre. There are approximately 90 stores located in the Gateway Mall for your shopping needs. Contact Gateway Mall at 747-3123.
• If you are not interested in shopping for new goods, try Springfield’s unique antique stores. Ruthie B’s offers anything the heart desires, including high tea at noon. There is a large array of other antique stores to visit in Springfield’s Depot District. Contact Ruthie B’s at 988-4791.
Events
• One of Springfield’s largest events is the Filbert Festival. Held in early August at beautiful Island Park, the festival features musical acts, art shows, vendors, fireworks, food and a talent show.
• A new event to Springfield, The Fiesta Latina is held in early September at Island Park. The Fiesta showcases a salsa dance contest and the rhythms of Latin-American music, along with a wonderful selection of Latin foods.
• If you are just visiting for the holidays, ask your host to take you to the Springfield Holiday Parade. Touted as the “oldest and coldest” parade in Oregon, it’s best to bring hot chocolate when watching the creative floats pass by every year on the first Saturday of December.
• To celebrate our country’s independence, visit Island Park for the Fourth of July Lights of Liberty Celebration. This event is sponsored by Springfield Utility Board.
• The Springfield Cruz, held in mid-July, showcases hundreds of classic cars around the 32nd block in Springfield.
