We
Care About Our Health
The Northern Allegheny County area- along with the Pittsburgh
area in general - offers some of the nations top healthcare
services and technology. There are more than ten hospitals
and clinics in the region to provide healthcare services
to residents of the communities. Among the best are UPMC
Passavant (part of the University of Pittsburgh Medical
System), Suburban General, Sewickley Valley, St. Francis
Cranberry and Childrens Hospital of Wexford.
The local social service agencies address a wide variety
of concerns, including domestic violence, homelessness,
teen services, counseling and services for those with special
needs. The Crisis Center North provides a haven for battered
women while the North Hills Community Outreach offers a
range of programs to needy area families. In addition, the
North Hills Youth Ministry Counseling Center provides counseling
services to families and children, and Mercy Behavioral
Health MH/MR provides employment opportunities for the mentally
and physically challenged residents of our community.
Allegheny County is also the home to one of the largest
elderly populations in the country, and numerous facilities
have been built to meet the needs of this population. ManorCare
Health Services, St. Barnabas Health System, Cumberland
Crossing at UPMC Passavant, Rose Valley Retirement Village
and Outlooke Pointe of Allison Park are just a few of these
assisted residential living homes available in the area.
