The
Manitowoc/Two Rivers area is less than 40 miles southeast
of Green Bay and approximately 80 miles north of Milwaukee,
both readily accessible via Interstate 43. The state capital,
Madison, is 125 miles to the southwest. Appleton, Fond du
Lac, and Oshkosh lie along Lake Winnebago to the west.
The Manitowoc River flows roughly eastward, however meandering
its direction south and north and sometimes even doubling
back westward, finally rolling into Lake Michigan's western
shore. Not far to the north, the East Twin and West Twin rivers
flow more directly southwestward and come together just before
they disappear into Lake Michigan.
The historic Manitowoc/Two Rivers area is not only accessible
by highway, you'll find excellent bus service, rail service
and numerous freight carriers. Michigan is just a comfortable
ferry trip away, across Lake Michigan. The S.S. Badger carferry
makes the trip between Manitowoc and Ludington, Michigan.
Manitowoc
County Airport offers two paved, lighted runways, with international
service available in Green Bay, just 45 minutes away, or in
Milwaukee, 90 minutes from Manitowoc/Two Rivers.
